Each folk song definitely has a story. In Anatolia, folk songs being composed and sung are quite common Folk songs represent our pain, happiness our aspirations our feelings and our thoughts turned into sounds. Folk songs at the same time bring the far heart feelings nearby that makes an intermediary connection. Although folk songs were composed by minstrels (âşık in Turkish) on specific events most of the times, today they are mostly composed by composers who are inspired by poems. Troubadours made great contributions to the spread of the Turks in the Anatolian geography. One of them, Tenecioğlu Âşık Hüseyin lived in the Çukurova region in the first years of the Republic. His journey to become a troubadour started from Erçene village of Afşin district of Kahramanmaraş. After wandering all around Çukurova, he returned to his village. Although Tenecioğlu Âşık Hüseyin is a known figure in the region, the famous folk song Acem Kızı composed by him has been attributed to Neşet Ertaş. This study investigates the period when the troubadour lived in Çukurova and touches upon the fact that the folk song Acem Kızı belongs to Tenecioğlu Âşık Hüseyin based on relevant information and documents.
