Abstract


THE VERBS MEANING TO WEAR, TO WRAP IN DEDE KORKUT
“The Book of Dede Korkut” is one of our texts that conveys the life of the Oghuz Turks in Turkish language, thus being a source for the studies of different disciplines dealing with both language and cultural history. Accordingly, it is worthy to be examined in terms of including various clothing elements that are among material culture. These clothing names are used with various verbs; It is certain that verbs denoting action, happening and movement are used together with these nouns. The aim of this paper is to identify these verbs and to make an assessment of their usage. In the study, the verbs in the Book of Dede Korkut, describing in general terms "dressing" and "putting on a dress", are listed in alphabetical order by sample the sentences in the text, and information about the etymological development of the verbs is also provided.
