Abstract
LEXICAL COMPILATIONS FROM THE CENTRAL DIALECT OF OSMANIYE PROVINCE
The compilation of lexical elements from the Anatolian Turkish dialects within a program in Turkey dates back to the first years of the Republic. Thanks to the compilations, besides revealing the vocabulary of Turkey Turkish, it was ensured that foreign words were found and forgotten Turkish words were revived. Another aim of these activities was to find Turkish equivalents for foreign used in standard language. These compilations from the dialects provided a deeper insight into Turkish syntax and semantic changes. Compilations from the dialects of Turkish, which has a wide geographical and historical depth, took place in a very long period time. Long-term compilation studies were published under the common name of “Derleme Sözlüğü” (Dictionary of Anatolian Turkish Dialects). There are approximately 600 thousand main entries in this dictionary. “Derleme Sözlüğü” is the most comprehensive dictionary prepared so far regarding the vocabulary of Turkish. However, the existence of many words that are not included in the “Derleme Sözlüğü” is generally deduced from many studies whose title includes the expression “…contributions to the Derleme Sözlüğü”. This study was carried out in order to contribute to the studies of determining the vocabulary of the Turkish language of the words and some idioms that belong to the central dialect of Osmaniye and are not included in the Derleme Sözlüğü or that do not exist in the dictionary of the central dialect of Osmaniye.
