Abstract

AN EVALUATİON ON THE MAİN VERB -(G)A+ER- STRUCTURE İN BEHCETÜ'L-HADÂİK
Behcetü'l-Hadâik, which is one of the first products of Oghuz Turkish to become a written language until the 13th century, is a work that combines Old Anatolian Turkish and Eastern Turkish features. It is one of the works called "mixed language" in Turkology. The work is important as it shows the phonetic and morphological development of Old Anatolian Turkish. Since mixed language works represent a transition period, phonetic and morphological dualities are seen in these works. This is also the case in Behcetü'l-Hadâik. In the work, the forms of some morphemes in both Old Turkish and Old Anatolian Turkish are used together. The -(G)A morpheme, which is the subject of the study, has the appearance of the request mode and has been used in different functions besides the request. In the work, the verb er-helper also assumes the function of the auxiliary verb ol-. In the study, -(G)A+er- structure was examined and evaluated according to functional grammar theory. In order to understand this structure, firstly, the functional properties and definitions of the auxiliary verb “er->ér->i-” and the “-(G)A” morpheme, which form the compound, are given and opinions about them are expressed. Then, the meanings added to the sentence by the "main verb-(G)A+er-" structure formed by these morphemes were examined with a functional classification. As a result of the functional classification, it has been determined that this structure is used in the functions of "desire/hope for the future, making inferences, power/competence to do a job, conditional non-realization, certainty".
