Abstract

PLANT NAMES IN THE DIALECT OF THE DİALECT OF SİNOP AND ITS DİSTRİCTS
Sinop is a province with rich vegetation due to its physical characteristics in the Black Sea region. This richness is also reflected in the plant names and 495 plant names have been compiled in Sinop dialects. The nomenclatures were handled with the onomastic method and the naming tendencies of Turkish were tried to be determined through plant names. Accordingly, in the light of the data obtained from plant names, it has been seen that naming is done by transferring names (transferring the part instead of the whole, transferring the whole instead of the part), transferring the idioms (transferring from person to nature, transferring from nature to human, transferring between objects in nature) and beautiful naming. Names; form, taste, smell, color, place-location, structure, number, time, occupation, name of person, name of organ, name of disease, name of property, name of person, name of animal. The functional characteristics of the plants or the attitudes of the naming agents highlighted the most dominant of these determinants.
