Abstract
USAGE OF OLD ANATOLION TURKISH INTERMEDIATE FORMS “-(y)XncA dek/degin/kadar”, WHICH ARE USED FOR EXPRESSİNG LIMITATION IN THE EASTERN THRACE DIALECTS AND TYPES OF USAGE OF THE “-(y)XncA” CONVERB
We can follow how differenly we use converbs from the early Turkish written texts on. From the time of Old Turkish to today`s Turkish dialects , converb suffixes have added a number of functions to the verbs by enabling the use of them as adverbs in sentences. In certain circumstances, converbs lost their basic function(s) or transferred this/these to another structure.
It is seen that the {-(G)XncA} converb which we are able to follow since the Old Turkish period usually has two meanings and functions. The first one is the time function with the meaning ( when…) and the second one is the terminability with the meaning ( until…). Especially Turkish in Turkey since the terminability function of {-(y)XncA} converb cannot be conveyed alone with the {-(y)XncA} adjunct, this meaning is conveyed with a structure that we can formalize as “Verb+-(y(X)ncA+yA and inflectional preposition”. On the other hand we see four different forms of {-(y)XncA} which forms the terminability function at the Old Anatolian Turkish. The first one is only “-(y)XncA”, the second one is the “-(y)XncA and inflection preposition” and the third one is “(y)XncA+y+A and inflection preposition”, the fourth one is the “Tâ... -(y)XncA”. At the present day though, it has been seen that those four different forms existing in the Ancient Anatolian Turkish is being used in a quick way in the Easterrn Thrace accents. . In our study, the focus will be on this subject.
