Abstract

FİZULİ’S POSITION IN THE FORMATION OF THE AZERBAIJAN WORD STOCK
Fizuli’s position in the formation of the Azerbaijan word stock Azerbaijani and Persian languages which developed together in their history played an important role in each other’s growth and richness. The existence of a lot of Persian lexical loanwords in the modern Azerbaijani language is proof of this fact. Persian loanwords which take an active part in the filling gaps met in the mutual relations that are considered special in the richness of our language are interesting both from semantic and structural standpoints. The use of Persian words in the Azerbaijani language is one of the topical problems in which modern linguists are interested and attached significance to it. It is deniable truth that broadening its lexical relations Persian words gradually dropped into Azerbaijani literary language and appeared semantically as original Azerbaijani words by changing their meanings. For defining Persian words in our native language, it is important to be familiar with the literary, historical, philosophical, religious and cultural outlook of both nations besides linguistic sayings. We know that the classical period of our literature also influenced from it and Persian words are specially met in the Azerbaijani classical poets like Fizuli, Nassimi, Shirvani, Khagani’s works. All researchers of Fizuli’s activities undoubtedly affirm that Fizuli used Azerbaijani words a lot in his poems. They note this feature not only from the standpoint of grammatical structure, but also words and phraseological combinations which are considered a part of vocabulary. But Turkish scholars say there is some “awkwardness” in Fizuli’s language. This is because some Azerbaijani words are different from the words used in their language. In his works Fizuli gave special significance to the national character of the Azerbaijani words connected with social-cultural and political condition of his period and never avoided from the use of Azerbaijani words being more popular among people.
