Abstract


THE KITCHEN UTENSILS IN COLLECTED POEMS IN 16TH CENTURY
The 16th century is the era when the Ottoman Empire peaked. Both the political sphere and Classical Turkish Literature reached the highest level and brought up many significant poems who wrote well. By going over the collected poems of poets such as Baki, Edirneli Nazmi, Emri, Fuzuli, Hayali, Nev’i, Taşlıcalı Yahya and Zati and incomplete collected poems (divançe) of Figani, this study consists of the determination of cuisine elements in 16th century used in the ottoman. These kitchen utensils were used as beverage containers and food containers and used for the preparation of food and during the meal. Kitchen utensils were classified in titles and the couplets, where these kitchen utensils were stated, poem and couplet numbers were given; the utensils were first described with their descriptions and features then the meaning in the sample couplets were described and its usage in ottoman poem and thoughts of poems about them were stated.
