Abstract
THE STORY OF KÖROĞLU IN ARTVIN PROVINCE’S TOWNS ŞAVŞAT AND ARDANUÇ
One of our oral literature work has an important place in Turkish Literature is epics that are transmitted to next generations. Epic of Köroğlu is an epic which has a larger geographic area in these epics. This epic has many stories in Anatolia and Asia fields. And one of the reasons this epic has such a large area is that Köroğlu is someone from public and he started a struggle of searching for rights.
The stories of Köroğlu are still alive on old source people in one of Artvin’s towns Şavşat this cause that our culture to come alive again wherever they go. There are also a few motives of Köroğlu in Ardanuç, Artvin. These motives are collected by Mustafa Âdil Özder. In these collected epics, we can see that the belief system of Turks, moral values, sense of heroism and values and also many socio- cultural features are exist. These features are studied with various motives.
