Abstract

THE SYNTAX CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORK CALLED THE SEVENTY TWO FARDHS WRITTEN IN CHAGATAI TURKISH (THE ANALYSIS OF WORD GROUPS - TRANSCRIPTION TRANSMISSION - FACSIMILE)
Since the Xth century, when the Turks became Muslims, the works in the form of the Seventy Two Fardhs were encountered, describing Islam’s fardhs, the sunnahs (= traditions) and obligations (= incumbents) in almost every Turkish geography. The rules of Islamic religion according to the various denominations are subject to in these works written by different dialects of Turkish language. These works, the main aim of which is to teach the rules of Islamic religion, have filled a significant gap in terms of the lack of knowledge of the nomadic Turkish tribes and contributed to the formation of a homogeneous (= simulated) Islamic understanding at the same time. In this study, the work called Seventy Two Fardhs written by Chagatai Turkish has been examined through the word groups. The work is thought that it was written in the post-classical period (1600 - 1921) Chagatai Turkish. The manuscript today is registered with sequence number 0/232, Ms. Ind. Ist. Turkish. 22 records in the Turkish Writing sections, in the Oxford-Bodleian Library. The study consists of four parts. The groups of words of text have been dealt in the first chapter, the transcriptions of the text fulfilled in the second part, the text has been transferred to Turkey’s Turkish in the third part and the facsimile has been given in the fourth and final section. The presentation of such kind of works in various aspects will provide important contributions both to the theoretical language accumulation of Chagatai Turkish and to our cultural world.
