Abstract


BELIEFS ABOUT MINE IN OLTU
Oltu is a district of Erzurum. There are important mineral deposits in the district. The majority of the mineral reserve in Erzurum is supplied from Oltu. Mine extracted in Oltu is salt, lime, coal and Oltu stone. We have compiled about mine and beliefs in Oltu. From this point of view, we have detected also beliefs about mine exist besides the economic value of mine in Oltu. We have concentrated on beliefs about mine which we have obtained from written source about coal mine in Zonguldak and our compilation of Oltu mine beliefs. It is possible to divide beliefs about mine into two main headlines. Firstly, beliefs in mine and secondly, beliefs the society imposes upon mine. Beliefs in mine are reflection of anxiety, joy, sadness and experience of employes. Beliefs the society imposes upon mine include in accumulation of people from past to present and their implementation are carried out via mine. All these usages about mine creates a part of culture of society. It has continued its existence into culture from generation to generation. Our study concentrates on beliefs about mine in Oltu to be defined and explained with examples. From our compilation, it is aimed that mine and beliefs are sorted out.
