Abstract
THE CATEGORY OF THE AFFIXES THAT MAKE NOUN PHRASES IN OMER SEYFETTIN’S STORIES
Noun phrases, whitch have great importance in our language, have been the subject of research with their semantic and functional sides. New ideas have been put forward with the new information about the functions of the affixes that make noun phrases. Every researcher tries to find a new semantics and function when it comes to noun phrases. However, Turkish language is not suitable to make a differance between a Word and an affix. In Turkish language there is a category of prefix for opposite words. There are many cases and functions for these affixes based on the categories. In this study, we will examine the noun phrases and the functions of affixes in Ömer Seyfettin’s eight (Perili Köşk, Ant, Kaşağı, Kütük, Nadan, Keramet, Teselli, Terakki)novels which have been the best in Turkish literatüre. We will explain the reason why we should put affixes into a different category from words thinking the relation between the affixes and the words.
