Abstract


IN MANICHAEAN-BUDDHIST AND ISLAMIC TURKIC TEXTS kertkün-~kertgün-~kirtgün- VERB AND ITS DERIVATES
The Old Uyghur Turkic is the period of firsts in terms of reflecting the religious terminology of Turkic. In the context of teachings such as Buddhism and Manichaeism concrete themes were introduced with Sanskrit, Sogdian, Toharian, Chinese and Tibetan, and the concept of borrowing emerged as a result of language contact and the people who knew Turkish as a result of the words were witnessed the kind of Turkish concepts in order to understand these teachings. In this context, the study is based on the development of religious terminology in Manichaean-Buddhist works of the Uyghur Turkic period, which is based on the meaning “faith, belief” which corresponds to the term Sanskrit sraddha in Buddhism, and which is based on the kertkün-~kertgün-~kirtgün - verb and its derivatives. The study also includes witnesses of the action in the Early Islamic Turkic Texts, which show the frequency of the use of the term “faith, belief” in the developing vocabulary. Questions such as whether the word kertgünç~kirtgünç “faith, belief” in the Early Turkish Texts of the Islamic period with Furthermore, Uyghur Turkic carried metaphysical dimensions in the same line or dropped out of use are important in terms of showing the attitude of the Turkic language in the formation of religious terminology along with the new period.
