Abstract
A SUPPLEMENTARY TO NAMIK KEMAL’S POEMS: AN OVERLOOKED POEM OF NAMIK KEMAL
This article consists of identifying and presenting an overlooked poem which is shown as Namık Kemal’s poem in two separate books called İlâveli Âheng-i Millî and Mektebde Vatan Türküleri which are anthologies of poetry. The so-called poem doesn’t take part in the Works collecting the all poems of Namık Kemal in the literature. In İlâveli Âheng-i Millî and Mektebde Vatan Türküleri, poems composed as anthem/song have been brought together. The poem that we have identified takes part in two separate books called İlâveli Âheng-i Millî and Mektebde Vatan Türküleri as Namık Kemal’s poem. The poem is given with the title of ‘Hürriyet-i Vatan (Marşı)’ in İlâveli Âheng-i Millî and ‘Vatan Şarkısı’ in Mektepde Vatan Türküleri with reference to Namık Kemal. This poem does not take place in the Works that bring together the poems of Namık Kemal such as Sadeddin Nüzhet Ergun’s Namık Kemal: Hayatı ve Şiirleri (1933) and Namık Kemal’in Şiirleri (1941), Rıza Nur’s Namık Kemal (Türk Bilig Revüsü-Revue de Turcologie) (1936), Ali Ertem’s Namık Kemal’in Şiirleri (1957) and Önder Göçgün’s Namık Kemal’in Şairliği ve Bütün Şiirleri (1999). Therefore, our study contributes to the literature by revealing an overlooked poem that can be added to the poems of Namık Kemal.
