Abstract


ETYMOLOGY AND THE MYTHOLOGICAL MEANING OF THE WORD JUNIPER IN THE CHUVASH AND SOME TURKIC LANGUAGES
This article deals with the phonetic structure, etymology and meaning of the word juniper «?????» «????????????» in the Chuvash and some other Turkic languages. The juniper has similar mythological meaning in Turkic tribes and some other nations. In this article, the interpretation of the juniper and the similar beliefs about it are exemplified in different Turkic accent besides particularly in Chuvash. Another curious feature is that juniper has similar functions in other nations as wells as in Turkic tribes. All these subject matters are mentioned briefly in the article.
