Abstract

THE SITUATIONS OF ANIMAL NAMES USED IN ANCIENT ANATOLIAN TURKISH IN TODAY’S ANATOLIAN DIALECTS
Human beings have continued their existence struggle from the first ages to the present day by using the plants and animals in nature. Especially, the relationship between animals and nomadic communities is more vital. One of the greatest achievements of the Turks in history is undoubtedly that they have realized a lifestyle that is appropriate to the environment and climate in which they live. Equine-nomadism is a more difficult lifestyle than farming in many ways. To tame and cultivate animals, to drive and manage large flocks, to find new pastures and water in different climatic and environmental conditions are more difficult activities than harvesting and also great labor, energy, talent and experience. In this study, based on the names of animals in Ancient Anatolian Turkish, the current situation of these names in contemporary Anatolian dialects is emphasized.
