Abstract
ON THE FREQUENCY OF COMPOUND VERBS CREATED WITH ET- AUXILIARY VERB IN TURKISH LANGUAGE TEACHING COURSE BOOKS (YEDI IKLIM TURKCE AND YENI HITIT TURKCE BASIC LEVEL A1-A2)
People express with words their feelings, thoughts, what they want to do and convey, and narrate to others. Verbs are one of the types that convey all these expressions in salubriously and provide effective communication. Verbs are divided into different types and have a special place in teaching Turkish to foreigners. Especially compound verbs created with auxiliary verbs sometimes pose a problem for students who are just starting to learn Turkish and learning and using these verbs in daily life can be more difficult than simple verbs.
One of the most used auxiliary verbs in Turkish both in daily life and in another field is et- verb. These verbs, which supply a new notion by combining with the previous word, are one of the issues that students who have started learning Turkish as a foreign language use incorrectly or frequently make mistakes. When the teaching of such verbs, which we use frequently in daily life, is not given place enough in the course books, the desired goal cannot be achieved unfortunately.
With this study, compound verbs created with et- auxiliary verb which take place in A1-A2 basic level language teaching course books of Yedi Iklim Turkce and Yeni Hitit Turkce in “Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language”, are compared and common and non-common words have been determined. In this study, which was also compared according to basic skills, frequency analysis was presented, and it was aimed to contribute to the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language based on statistical data.
