Abstract
THE UNSIGNED ARTICLES OF AHMET HAMDI TANPINAR
Abstract
Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar (1901-1962) is a well-known poet, novelist, literary historian, essayist, translator and story writer of modern Turkish literature. Today, many literature researchers have published studies on Tanpınar. However, it is not known that Tanpınar has unsigned articles. In the following article, some of Tanpınar's unsigned articles, which are currently unknown, are examined. While examining Tanpınar's unsigned writings, his literary and political ideas as well as his biography were taken into consideration. As it is known, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar was a deputy between 1943-1946. His close friend, poet and playwright, Ahmet Kutsi Tecer (1901-1967), became the director of the Ülkü Magazine, which was started to be published in Ankara in 1941, and Tanpınar started to publish his articles in this magazine. As is known, some of his poems, stories and his novel Mahur Beste have been published in this magazine. However, it is not known that Tanpınar published anonymous articles in the Journal of Ülkü. While we were examining the documents left by Tanpınar, we came across information in one of the manuscripts stating that he published unsigned articles in Ülkü. For this reason, we examined all the issues of the Ülkü Journal. We determined which of the unsigned articles that we found close to Tanpınar's language belonged to him. As a result, there are twelve articles published by Tanpınar without signature in Ülkü. In addition, there are other unsigned articles that we are not sure whether they belong to Tanpınar or not.
