Abstract
AN EVALUATION ABOUT ERGIN GÜNCE'S POETRY
Ergin Günçe (1938-1983) is one of the poets who built his own poetics with a unique understanding without taking part in the poetic understandings and movements that have been influential since the 1950s. What makes Ergin Günçe unique is that he created his own poetics by being influenced by the prevailing understanding of poetry in the periods he wrote. Günçe describes the world of words close to the folk saying of Garip poetry, the rhetoric of sarcasm; he synthesized the imaginative approach of the İkinci Yeni in his own poetry. It is also possible to talk about a prominent Nazım Hikmet effect in his poems in which romantic and lyrical utterance predominate. His personal experiences (autobiographical traces) have an influence on the background of his foregrounding themes such as "death", "summer" and "childhood". It can be said that Günçe, who died at the age of forty-five in a plane crash, was not a poet connected to any poetry movement or understanding and was not addressed in literary history and research since his poetics were evaluated in the context of influences. However, despite all these influences, it can be said that Ergin Günçe's synthesizing poetics should be taken into account in the history of Turkish poetry in the Republican period, although he is not a pioneer or a top literary figure. In this article, firstly, information will be given about the literary conditions of the period in which Ergin Günçe wrote his poems. Ergin Günçe's biography will be briefly emphasized and his understanding of poetry will be tried to be revealed. After mentioning the factors in the formation of the poet's understanding of poetry, his poems will be evaluated thematically.
