Abstract
A NEW POETIC HZ. ALI CENK-NAMAH IN TERMS OF ITS SUBJECT: HZ. ALI’S FIRST BATTLE
The first texts that come to mind when cenk-namah is mentioned in Turkish culture and literature are Hz. Ali axis. The fact that there are hundreds of copies of the cenk-namah of Hz. Ali, which were popular in a wide geography from the 13th century to the 21st century, are registered in our libraries today, is a sign of how much they were loved and read by the people in the past centuries. Many studies have been made and continue to be done on the battles of Hz. Ali in verse and prose until today.
In this article, the determination, introduction and examination of the first war of Hz. Ali in chronological terms were made. This original text, which is new and very important in terms of genre literature, and the content of which is unknown, was found among the 1b-5b leaves of a magazine containing the poetic cenk-namahs of Hz. Ali registered with the place number 11930 in Konya Koyunoğlu Museum. The exact name of the poem with nesih calligraphy and when it was written is not clear. The only information available is that its copying was completed in H. Rajab 1180/ M. December-January 1766-1767. It is thought that the text may belong to the Old Anatolian Turkish period from the linguistic features and some other presumptions. The author and copyist of the masnawi, which consists of 121 couplets and is written in the form of fâilâtün fâilâtün failün, is also unknown. Written in a plain and understandable Turkish, the poem is technically successful (prosody, rhyme and redif) and reminds me of the mawlid style. Another remarkable feature of the masnawi is that it is the least voluminous work among the cenk-namahs of Hz. Ali in verse, together with the stories of Kesikbaş and Ejderha.
This work, which can also contribute to the illumination of the legendary personality of Hz. Ali, has been analyzed in terms of form and content, and then transferred from Arabic letters to the Latin alphabet by transcription method. At the end of the study, a facsimile of the text is included.
