Abstract
FRUITS AND FRUIT NAMES IN TURKISH CULTURE AND DERLEME SÖZLÜĞÜ (Names According to Shape, Color, Taste and Maturation Period)
As a result of the compilation activities carried out by the Türk Dil Kurumu between 1930-1960, a 12 volume Derleme Sözlüğü was formed. With the Derleme Sözlüğü study, a rich vocabulary covering all areas of life in the daiy spoken language of the people living in Anatolia has emerged. Fruit names also have a large place in this vocabulary. The people in Anatolia used certain criteria when naming these fruits, which they use in their daily speech. Fruits as criteria; It was used by the Anatolian people to name fruit according to its taste, color, shape and ripening period.
In the introduction part of the study, the place of fruits in Turkish culture is mentioned. Later fruit names; It is classified according to its shape, color, taste and ripening period. In the fruit names Eski Uygur Türkçesi Sözlüğü, Tarihi ve Etimolojik Türkiye Türkçesi Lugatı, Dede Korkut, Divanu Lûgat-it Türk, Türk Dilinin Etimoloji Sözlüğü, Çağdaş Türkçenin Etimoloji Sözlüğü, Güncel Türkçe Sözlük, Kutadgu Bilig, Abuşka Lûgatı, An Etymological Dictionary of Pre-Thirtenth-Century Turkish, Osmanlıca-Türkçe Ansiklopedik Lûgat It has also been determined whether they exist in works such as existing words are written with their meanings, while missing words are shown whith a (-) sign. In the study, it is aimed to show the rich vocabulary about fruits and fruit nomenclature in Turkish Culture and Derleme Sözlüğü and to contribute to the studies in this field.
