Abstract
AN EVALUATION ON GRAMMAR TEACHING IN A1 AND A2 LEVEL COURSE BOOKS THAT REFER TO THE TEACHING OF TURKISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE: YENI HITIT (A1 and A2 BASIC)
The most important feature that distinguishes humans from other living creatures is that they have the ability to speak and think. The most basic feature that determines a person's place and value in the world and makes a person human is language. Language is the expression of human existence. A person detects what he thinks and sees through his language and can transmit these elements from generation to generation. In this way, other generations have the opportunity to benefit from the successes of one generation. In this context, Turkish is a rich language spoken by more than 150 million people in a wide geographical area today, as in the past. Learning this language and meeting the cultural richness of its speakers will give a foreign/international person a different perspective on the world. In this respect, learning Turkish as a foreign language means that the individual gains the ability to understand and express in a language other than his own. It is possible for a person to make this skill and the information he has learned more regular and permanent thanks to his knowledge of language. In this study, the units in the Yeni Hitit - Turkish for Foreigners textbook (A1-A2 Basic) used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language are evaluated in terms of grammar, the grammar topics according to the units and how the grammar topics are handled in teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
