Abstract
IRONY IN BERJI KRISTIN'S GARBAGE TALES
Berji Kristin: Tales from the Garbage Hills, written by Latife Tekin in 1984, whose language, narrative technique, structure consisting of a synthesis of different literary genres, heroes, theme, time and space have been studied in many different ways.
The critical point of view of the novel, which focuses on urban migration and provincial-urban opposition, opens the door to a reading in the context of both the events and the irony in the language.
The irony that is often found in literary works is to give an artistic meaning to the word and sometimes to criticize an event or a person by means of the opposite.
Taking into account the mentioned points, the definition and historical development of irony, which we often encounter in literary works and daily life, will be discussed and read in this study through the context of the text Berji Kristin: Tales from the Garbage Hills.
