Abstract
AN ANALYSIS OF HALDUN TANER'S STORIES IN TERMS OF ENVIRONMENTAL CRITICISM
Environmental criticism, which examines the relationship between human beings and the environment through literary texts, has become a much studied theory, especially in the twentieth century when the pollution of the earth became an environmental disaster, and over time it has expanded its boundaries to include almost all environmental issues and literary genres. This study attempts a critical reading of the representation of the environment in the stories from published books of Haldun Taner, who was active during the republican period. In this context, the definitions and stages of environmental criticism are first mentioned, and the criteria that should be present in an environmental critical text and an environmental critic are listed. In addition, in order to be able to look at Taner's stories in an environmentalist critical way, information about some environmentalist critical views is given. Subsequently, Haldun Taner's storytelling and his special interest in the environment are mentioned; the representation of the environment and the animal issue in his stories are analysed under two separate headings with the principles of various environmentalist critical views such as deep ecology, land ethics and animal studies, which are closely related to these views. Thus, an environmentalist critical reading of Haldun Taner's stories is attempted.
