Abstract
HISTORICAL AND LITERARY IMAGE OF THE REVOLUTIONARY RESNELİ NİYAZİ WITH THE DEER IN ECE AYHAN'S POETRY
Resneli Niyazi is one of the most important and unique figures of the "marginal" period of Ottoman history during the reign of Sultan II. Abdülhamid, and can also be considered a character in terms of literature. He is known in Ottoman history for his pioneering role in rebelling against the despotism administration and for his famous deer. Although Resneli Niyazi played a leading role in the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Monarchy, he was pushed into the background due to internal strife in the Committee of Union and Progress (Ittihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti). However, despite all the exclusion and marginalization, Resneli Niyazi is known as one of the most important and wronged heroes of the late Ottoman history who managed to enter the history of literature, especially poetry, with his marginality. Although Resneli Niyazi was systematically ignored by the official Ottoman history for ideological purposes, he was able to find a place for himself in civil history and civil literature. Ece Ayhan is the poet who brought Resneli Niyazi out of unofficial history and literature and gave him a civil image with his marginal identity in history and literature, and carried him to the civil field of history and poetry. Through his poems about Resneli Niyazi, Ece Ayhan provides a general reading of Ottoman history and partly of Republican history through his references. Resneli Niyazi, who never parted with his deer as the sacred icon of freedom, is generally referred to among the people as the 'revolutionary with the deer.' Ece Ayhan brought his marginality into the agenda of poetry through the deer, which is sanctified by both the state and the people. This article will provide historical and literary readings on the poems written by Ece Ayhan about Resneli Niyazi.
