Abstract
REFERENCES TO MOTIVES IDENTIFIED WITH FOLK STORİES IN 19TH CENTURY ASHIK POETRY
Folk stories are a rich and multidimensional genre of oral prose narratives. Following the Dede Korkut stories, the stories that began to be classified and told by minstrels since the 16th century consist of a combination of verse and prose.
While folk stories are classified by the ashıks in accordance with the order of episodes, the episode and episode order are similar as a feature of the oral culture environment. The folk stories deal with the subject of love and heroism. In folk tales dealing with the subject of love, commonalities are observed between motifs such as the order of episodes - going to the mountains and the desert, beauty, not being able to meet, etc. In addition to the richness of motifs that appear in folk stories, it is seen that in some stories one or more motifs are specific to that story.
In the study, the stories of Leyla and Mecnun, Yusuf and Züleyha and Kerem and Aslı, which are among the folk stories dealing with the subject of love, are reviewed and the specifics of these stories - falling into disrepute, being satisfied with beauty, having teeth pulled, etc. - motifs have been identified. Then, the poems of the ashıks who are representatives of the 19th century ashık style poetry tradition are examined and evaluated by focusing on how the relevant motif is reflected in the poems.
