Abstract
AN ANALYSIS ON MUTUAL SYMBOLS AND IMAGES IN THE POEMS OF AHMET HAŞİM AND ANTONIO MACHADO
Ahmet Haşim (1884-1933) and Antonio Machado (1875-1939), who are among the pioneering names in their own literature, developed a similar understanding of poetry. When we look at the poems of both poets, it is seen that they set out from different concepts and meet in the same understanding of poetry. The poets, who are among the important names of modern poetry, use symbol and image effectively in their poems based on an individual sensibility. The way nature, human and time are handled in the poems of Ahmet Haşim and Antonio Machado points to a common aesthetic field. In this context, it is seen that the elements that show similarities in the poems of the poets enable the formation of a comparative field of analysis. In this study, the common symbols and images in Ahmet Haşim's and Antonio Machado's poems will be analysed within the framework of comparative literary science and a thematic analysis will be made around the contents carried by this commonality. In thematic analysis, it is understood how certain elements are processed and interpreted in different works, periods or societies. In this context, how the commonality between the symbols and images in the poems of the poets is formed and developed will form the basis of our study.
