Abstract
THEMATIC CLASSIFICATION ON MU‘ÎNU’L-MURÎD WRITTEN IN HAREZM TURKISH
Khwarezm Turkish, as the language of the transition period from Karakhanid Turkish to Chagatai Turkish, holds great significance in the history of the Turkish language. Mu‘inu’l-Murid is particularly significant as it contains the unique linguistic characteristics of Khwarezm Turkish. Therefore, conducting a thematic classification study on Mu‘inu’l-Murid, analyzing the terms based on their usage areas and studying the etymology and meanings of related concepts are crucial for comparing the language, culture and social life of that period with previous and subsequent eras. In this study, nouns in Mu‘inu’l-Murid have been thematically classified. During the text analysis process, key concepts were first identified and then grouped within a specific classification framework. The usage areas, etymology and meanings of the terms were analyzed, categorized accordingly and explained with supporting examples taken from relevant sections of the work. In Mu‘inu’l-Murid, nouns identified based on their conceptual fields have been analyzed thematically under the 25 headings listed below: 1. Kinship Terms, 2. Animal Names, 3. Organ names, 4. Food and beverages, 5. Weapons of war, 6. Numbers, 7. Nature-related concepts 8. Characteristics of objects, 9. Concepts related to time, 10. Decorative items, 11. Clothing, 12. Musical instruments, 13. Professions, 14. Household tools, 15. Fundamentals and times of prayer, 16. Concepts related to ablution, 17. Names and attributes of Allah, 18. Concepts related to faith, 19. The Qur’an, 20. Surahs and verses, 21. Names of prophets, 22. Founders of religious sects, 23. Concepts related to paradise and hell, 24. Concepts related to Satan and jinn, 25. Sacred places.
