Abstract
MUŞ-BULANIK TEREKEME DIALECT
Terekeme Turks are a national treasury in terms of folk culture. Their treasuries of language and culture need to be identified to make a comparison between such huge set of materials and the cultures of other Turkish folks.
Lands within the Kars, Tbilisi, Baku triangle and the surrounding area are the natural homelands of the Terekemes. They migrated from Georgia and Kars to Muş-Bulanık between 1926-1932 and settled there.
Terekemes speak an idiosyncratic dialect of Turkish. In fact, this dialect has seemingly undergone assimilation and merged into the dialects of East Anatolia. Interactions between the significant phonological and morphological features found in the dialects of Terekemes living in Turkey and those of the regional dialects were evaluated in this study. Distinctive phonological and morphological features identified in the dialects of Terekemes living in Muş have been specified.
