Abstract
FOLK SONGS OF MOLDOVA AND UKRAINE GAGAUZS
This article is focused on the general classification of folk songs of Gagauz people, dwelling on the territories of Moldova and Ukraine, in terms of genre varieties, ideas, topics or other peculiarities. Analysis is based on folklore material, which was gathered by author following his 8 scientific expeditions to Gagauz villages in 1948-1961, and on Gagauz songs published by V. Mochkov (1904), A. Manov (1938) and V. Zajakoczkowski (1960).
Two main genres of Gagauz songs (Turkish folk music) are distinguished: epic and lyric songs. Ballades and historic songs relate to epic genre.
Songs, based on the everyday life topics, form a special genre – this kind of songs are introduced in a form of lyrical epic lamentations.
In total, Gagauz folk songs are closely related to traditional art of Turkish and Bulgarian people; they combine traditional Turkish and Slav poetry features due to living conditions.
