Abstract
USE OF ANTONYMOUS WORDS IN SOME WORKS OF PRE-CLASSICAL AND CLASSICAL PERIOD CHAGATAI TURKISH
Mankind has seen meaning as an important step in reaching the truth. In this regard, meaning has become a subject of many scientific disciplines from the past to the present day. It is possible to list these areas as psychology, logic, philosophy, linguistics, semiology. In this work to be done in the field of linguistics, the meaning will be evaluated in terms of the antonymous given under the title of meaning in the word. As it is on every language, in Turkic there are close or opposite meaning concepts. Starting from the Köktürk inscriptions in the eighth century, it is possible to see concepts that have this characteristic in works belonging to historical periods. Because these concepts add strength and fluency to narrative, they make it easy to grasp the difficult and incomprehensible subjects in the texts. In this study, the divan and masnavis of Ali Şir Nevâî, in the the classical and pre-classical period works of Chagatai Turkish, the Divan of Hüseyin Baykara and the Lutfi Divan of the Chagatai Turkish will be examined and the transition to the usage of the antonymous in terms of structure, meaning and origin will be determined with examples. The antonymous words found in the studied works are Turkish, Arabic, Persian in terms of origin; will be classified as word type and word group in terms of structure. The meanings of the couplets in which the antonymous words are used will also be given.
