Abstract
İBRAHİM ULVİ YAVUZ'S SOCIAL EVENTS BEFORE THE 1980 COUP IN THE “ÇALKANTI” AND “KORKUNUN BEDELİ” NOVELS
The coup can be described as the abolition of the will of the people and the coming of military guardianship. In such cases, some attempts are made to reduce the public's reaction to a minimum. For example, social conflicts are fueled, the country is trying to drift into economic deprivation, people are confronted with each other, public order is not ensured, education and training activities are stopped etc. Before 1980, all of this happened, the atmosphere of the coup had been formed and a social environment was created, almost waiting for the coup.
This study aims to examine the social life before the 1980 coup in the light of a novelist. İbraham Ulvi Yavuz is a novelist who writes guidance novels. He takes his novels with the understanding of the right side and tries to direct the society in this way. The research is limited to novels written by Abraham Ulvi Yavuz before the 1980 coup. The author has written the novels of Dikenli Yollar in 1976, Çalkantı in 1978, and Korkunun Bedeli in 1980. In these novels, there are no signs from the period of 1980 social structure or chaotic environment in Dikenli Yollar. In the Çalkantı and Korkunun Bedeli novels, the anarchy before the 1980 Revolution and the great traces of rage are seen. İn this context our work is limited to the novels of Çalkantı and Korkunun Bedeli. In the study, in the novels social status before the coup , youth and university events, economic crisis, political instability and so on. situations will be revealed and the footsteps of the coup will be revealed in the eyes of a novelist.
