Abstract
FOLK STORIES IN THE 20TH CENTURY ASIK STYLE OF POETRY: EXAMPLE OF KAGIZMANLI HIFZI
Among the sources of written literature, oral culture has an important place with its infinite materials. In this context, one of the fields we observe the intertextuality is producing folklore. The Asik style of poetry, which holds a great deal of folk literature, also possesses material worthy of examination at the intertextual level. Kağızmanlı Hıfzı, one of the elite representatives of the Asik poetry of the twentieth century, was famous for his poems and reached the present day despite his short life born at the end of the nineteenth century. Hıfzı is a poet with a high imagination, a deep rhetoric, a fluid style, and a power of representation. In addition, Hıfzı has the ability to not easily fill the place for lamentation.
In Hıfzı poetrys, religious mystic subjects successfully process the love of Allah and Prophet, the love of nature, love of homeland and humanity. While he is working these themes, he mentions the famous folk storys in “love” is the main theme such as “Leyla and Mecnun, Kerem and Aslı, Ferhat and Şirin, Yusuf and Züleyha, Âşık Garip and Şah Senem.” This is the indicator of “a text in a text” concretely from the point of intertextuality. “Allusion” is a term that is seen especially in poems. It makes a reference indirectly to famous people, folk stories, legends, verses of the Koran and hadiths.
In the study, the folk storys in the poems of Kağızmanlı Hıfzı will be examined in the intertextual relations centered on allusion.
