Abstract
WOMEN WEDDING CLOTHES of SILISTRE IMMIGRANTS IN BOR TOWN of NIGDE PROVINCE
Due to its geographical position, our country, which has many cultures and bridges the two continents, has experienced frequent immigration events. In the period of National Struggle years, immigrants who came to Turkey were placed in different regions by the Ministry of Development and Housing. In conjuction with the value judgments, beliefs, customs and traditions of the groups present in their placed regions, cultural values that were shaped in the course of time have also influenced their clothings. Along with the post-migration interaction, it has led to the change of existing clothes and their interpretation in different forms. In this study; It is aimed to record and document the local values and traditional achievements in terms of type, shape, form, tailoring, usage style and aesthetic properties of local clothings called as “don- yelek” and “don- hanteri” that are used in in marriage and circumcision ceremonies of women immigrations who came and settled with immigrants from Bulgaria (Romania) and Silistre (Karaveli - Tokmak villages etc.) to Bor town of Niğde province. The selected subject is very important in terms of making resources by contributing to the related literature in terms of Turkish and World cultural history and being the first work done in this subject.
