Abstract
CHARACTERS IN CHILDREN'S NOVELS OF MUZAFFER İZGÜ IN TERMS OF BASIC PRINCIPLES OF CHILDREN'S LITERATURE
Muzaffer İzgü is one of the first names that come to mind when it comes to children's literature in Turkish literature. Muzaffer İzgü has 88 children's books. 52 of these books are novels and 36 stories. In this study, characters in Muzaffer İzgü’s children’s novels were examined in terms of the main principles of children’s literature. There are a number of features that children's literature works must carry due to the mass. One of these features are the characters whose novels, stories and theaters are indispensable. The child integrates with the characters in the works of children's literature. They become models for the child. Therefore, it is necessary to transport certain features of these characters. In this study, it was investigated whether the novel characters of Muzaffer İzgü carry these characteristics. The study was carried out by means of documentation, which is one of the qualitative research methods. Of the 52 children literature novels of Muzaffer İzgü, randomly selected 15 novels were analyzed through document analysis method The selected works were examined in characters principles. Selected novels have been evaluated in two stages: In the first stage the novels were analyzed for character traits.In the second stage, "Children's and Youth Literature Rating Scale Artwork" nature of the work is scored using. It was determined that the principles of child reality and child-related principles were complied with in the construction of the characters.
