Abstract
A RESEARCH ON YAKUP TEMELI’S STORY OF SULEYMAN AND SAHPERI
Folk tales, one of the narratives of Turkish folk literature, are a field of study by itself with its unique structure, shape, theme and execution. Turkish folk stories have been described by many researchers. Based on definitions, folk tales generally take the subject of love and heroism. These stories, which have a certain order, are composed of a mixture of innumerable and prose. The sources of folk stories have been discussed and as a result, they have been agreed to be of Turkish, Arab-Islamic and Indo-Iranian origin. Although the performers of folk stories are lovers, it is known that the Meddah is responsible for this task. Since it is a long-term narrative type and the scope of the subject is wide, the fact that it has not yet been met with the novel has eliminated this deficiency puts it at the important stages of our literature. There are also classifications of folk stories, which are based on differences. These classifications were prepared by the researchers in different categories.
In this study, the story of Suleyman and Sahperi was examined in different ways. The course focuses on the life, storytelling, motif order of the story, source of the story, time, geography, heroic staff, episode analysis, poem analysis, language and narrative. The original text of this folk story, which is classified in various ways, will be presented with this work. In this context, the story of Suleyman and Sahperi people will be introduced to the world of science for the first time.
