Abstract
ISTANBUL UNIVERSITY LIBRARY OF RARE BOOKS T 3473 REGISTERED IN NUMBER MECMÛ'A-İ EŞ'ÂR'S INTRODUCTION
Journals are the pieces that allows our literature history to be fully presented with its meanings. Through them we can see the interests of the readers from the time they were written. We can learn the popularity of the poets, their personalities, find poems that are missing from the collections of the biographies of poets and poets whom are not coming from a dîvân. And also see what the poets with dîvân are lacking in their poems to make up for them. The subject of our study is T 3473 numbered journal called Mecmû‘a-i Eş‘âr from Istanbul University Library of Rare Books. In the study we first have information about journals. Second we have information of Mecmû‘a-i Eş‘âr’s physical attributes, contents, language and orthography. Then a chart that shows the poets and poetry forms that they used with aruz prosody of the poems. The journal has 86 foils. Journal contains 4 Arabic, 198 Persian, 544 Turkish and in total of 746 poems. These poems were written by poets whom lived from 15th century to 19th. The intention of our study is to introduce the journals, their content and point out the importance and their statistics to the researchers. The study was prepared according to Systematic Classification Project of Journals (MESTAP).
