Abstract
FROM UNION TO BITTERNESS OF HEART: CLASSICAL TURKISH LITERATURE IMPRESSIONS IN THE NOVEL THE MUSEUM OF INNOCENCE
After his first two novels Cevdet Bey and His Sons and Silent House, Orhan Pamuk began to work on postmodern literary outputs which were rather recent applications on those days in Turkish literature. Common ground between his novel The Black Book that particularly categorised as a creative reproduction of Husn u Ask and Classical Turkish literature was remarked by literary communities. Although after his novel Snow, it was thought that he started to write thematic novels more and more and use less intertextuality in his works, behaviour patterns of fictitious characters in The Museum of Innocence that was written in the period began with Snow and types in Classical Turkish literature are sharing similarities. In this paper, features of Classical Turkish literature stereotypes are going to be given, thereupon analogy between these stereotypes and structure&elements of The Museum of Innocence is going to be presented.
