Abstract
COMPASSION SOUGTH IN LETTERS: STRUCTURE AND CONTENT ANALYSIS OF SELİM İLERİ’S NOVEL ELİMDE VİYOLETLER/BEKLENEN SEVGİLİ
Selim İleri may be defined as one of the most productive and sophisticated writers of modern Turkish literature with his abounding novels, scenarios, essays, critiques, literary articles in periodicals, and one poetry book. His novel Elimde Viyoletler/Beklenen Sevgili’s first edition that was published in October 2018, consisted of forty-nine letters written by Musahhih Şefkati Bey to his dear friend Şefkati. The sameness of the names brings to mind a fictional structure constructed on a reduplicated sense of self. In addition to this, the novelist worked on his book delicately as using conflicts like present-past, senescence-childhood, i-other, poverty-wealth, the joy of living comes with love-rising existential agony with loneliness. It may also be observed signally in consideration of the novel’s publication date 2018, a retro turn of phrase is chosen consciously by the writer. In this paper Elimde Viyoletler/Beklenen Sevgili is going to be analyzed in the context of structure and content.
