Abstract
THE OBSTACLE TO LOVE İN THE STORY OF LEYLA MECNUN: GOSSİP
Gossip is a phenomenon that person who is a social being cannot give up in daily life in accordance with his desire to know what is going on around him. The history of gossip is as old as human history. Gossip is a verbal communication that emphasizes feelings such as jealousy and grudge directed against others by people who are not known by whom it is produced, and is sometimes used as a means of entertainment. Shape-shifting folk aggression can function as an oppositional communication network or propaganda tool.
Gossip is mentioned in more than one chapter in the Quran, it is stated that it is a bad act and those who gossip will be punished.,
Gossip is an integral part of human life because of sociology, psychology, politics, etc. as an effective social reality in many fields, it finds its place in art and literature and thus in literary works. In this contex gossip appears as a major obstacle that cannot be eliminated in the way of love in folk stories, in which love is classified and told by aşik-style literature.
In the study, the concept of gossip will be evaluated on the effect of heroes and love based on the selected variants of the story Leyla and Mecnun, which has been handled many times in Arabic, Iranian and Turkish literature.
